Arsenal sack manager Unai Emery after disastrous run of form

The Spaniard replaced Arsene Wenger in May 2018 but failed to turn the club’s fortunes around in charge during his 18-month spell.
Its 2-1 defeat to Frankfurt in the Europa League Thursday was the side’s seventh successive match without a win and Arsenal has slipped to eighth at the English Premier League.
Pressure was mounting around the 48-year-old for months with pockets of enthusiasts calling to him to be terminated and questioning his strategic leadership.
The club said the choice was made”due to results and performances not being at the level required.”
“Our most sincere thanks go to Unai and his colleagues who were unrelenting in their efforts to find the team back into competing in the level most of us expect and need,” stated Arsenal director Josh Kroenke.
“We wish Unai and his team nothing but potential success.”
Current coach Freddie Ljungberg and former player will take over on a temporary basis because the search for the head coach gets.
“But I manage Arsenal because I will give everything I have to put smiles on faces ,” Ljungberg tweeted.
“We’ve got a busy few weeks ahead and the staff needs your service. Let’s get to work!”
Arsenal’s next game is away to Norwich City in the EPL on Sunday.

Reinsert the club and emery, who has managed the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla, had been brought to the Emirates to acquire trophies.
The signs were positive since Arsenal reached their Europa League’s closing in his first season in charge — a contest the manager has won three occasions — but defeat to Chelsea meant another season from their prestigious Champions League.
The club’s board had guaranteed investment over the summertime and delivered with all the singing of Nicolas Pepe for a club record fee of about $98 million (#72m).
However, the star has made an impact in his first season and the defensive frailties of Arsenal have continued to hamper the ambitions of the team.
The Spaniard was likewise criticized for handing the club captaincy into Grant Xhaka, where the midfielder goaded his very own lovers as they jeered him off the pitch, a decision that backfired during an EPL match against Crystal Palace.

Despite Emery being booed by fans in charge during his last weeks, anger has been directed at the club’s hierarchy, with fans pointing on this pitch.
The tens of thousands of empty chairs for the last match in charge of Emery demonstrated that the negativity now rife. Against Frankfurt, the presence was over 49,000 but reports said the actual number was approximately 25,000.
Arsenal Supporters’ Trust stated that the dismissal”inevitable” but known as change in the club structure.
“It is a sad actuality that the team is now completely owned by an international investment vehicle, Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, who are mostly absent in London,” a statement read.
“This usually means that the club needs to be governed by a strong Board in London, one that is truly independent and also has the expertise and dynamism to push a soccer club forward.”
It included:”So if Arsenal are to move forward from now it requires not just a brand new head coach appointment but also a rejuvenation of the boardroom.”
