On Friday explaining chemotherapy helped her to defeat a tumour she was diagnosed with 26, the 39-year-old posted a clip onto her media accounts.
“I will tell you what happened in the past seven weeks of my entire life: they diagnosed me with a malignant tumor, it was the toughest battle I ever faced in my life,” Schiavone said.
“However, the best thing about it is that I have been able to win this conflict. And if they told me I exploded with happiness and I live with happiness today, I could cut it with a knife.
“I’m ready with my heart and my head to start fresh projects I’d intended, but I never got round to. So we will see each other soon. I am very happy of who I am now.”
The Italian, who first retired in 2018, reached number 4 in the WTA world rankings and won the French Open.
