Garth Crooks’ team of the week: Tarkowski, De Bruyne, Alli, Mane, Vardy

Liverpool Claimed their eight-point Edge at the top of the Premier League.

That 2-1 success ensures they remain nine points ahead of defending champions Manchester City, who beat Chelsea 2-1 to climb to third in the table.
Leicester are a point above City in second after a 2-0 win in Brighton, while Tottenham made a winning start as they beat West Ham 3-2.
As they drew 3-3 with Manchester United on Sunday, Sheffield United scored a dramatic late equaliser.
Here’s my team of the week – have a read and select your own below.
Pope: It has been a Great week to get Nick Pope. A performance and a sheet for England away in Kosovo – and – then back in time to play Burnley and stop Watford carrying any points.
His rescue with his feet from Gerard Deulofeu’s effort was as instinctive as it had been excellent but the rescue from a free-kick moments afterwards, bent around the wall from exactly the identical player, demonstrated Pope’s confidence and the way he has grown into an international goalkeeper.
Did you know? Nick Pope made four saves as Burnley ended an eight-match winless run off from home.
Tarkowski: If you win 3-0 away from your home and keep a clean sheet, the probability of becoming in my group of this week is quite high and James Tarkowski has done.
For bringing Deulofeu, who he just could not manage in the first half if he was booked the Burnley defender survived a moment at Watford but the central defender got better and better as the match progressed – and obtained a goal also.
In the long run, Burnley only ran away with the game.
Did you know? James Tarkowski’s goal was his first in the Premier League last against Brighton on 8 December, in a year.
Fernandinho: He may not be the very best centre-back from the planet, or even the best defender at his club, but what Fernandinho provides Manchester City is composure.
He is also one. His second half block on N’Golo Kante’s shot, destined for the back of the internet, secured the things.
Together with Joao Cancelo, John Stones along with Benjamin Mendy dependable as a chocolate fireguard, Pep Guardiola has been quite astute in keeping Fernandinho around. When heads are crucial, the Brazilian has attracted an element of calm.
Did you know? Fernandinho touched the ball more times than any Manchester City player and won a team-high 76.9% of his duels against Chelsea.
Van Dijk: Virgil van Dijk was it again. This time, he was strutting as if he owned the place.
Liverpool consistently appear to retain a feeling of calm, Van Dijk performs.
Crystal Palace played their best football for a while, created chances and missed them, and appeared to have problems with the event more than their visitors. Strangethat.
Did you know? Virgil van Dijk is now finished the most passes in the Premier League this year.
Moutinho: Exactly what a target it had been by Joao Moutinho at Bournemouth. I thought if he would have the nerve to take the shot, when he shaped up to the free-kick. Not only did he have the nerve – that he had the method to score.
The Portugal international is a talented player and, alongside his superbly taken goalthat the show ran .
There was a part of inevitability about the Simon Francis sending away. You can not expect to come back in and not get found out, when you spend nearly a year out of a Premier League.
Meanwhile, Wolves are fifth. They can not possibly keep this up.
Did you know? The goal of joao Moutinho was the fourth Wolves have scored in the Premier League – together with all these.
De Bruyne: The warning signs were there at the opening exchanges of Manchester City’s win over Chelsea when Kevin de Bruyne flashed a right-footed shot past Kepa Arrizabalaga’s post.
The Belgium fired and manipulated the ball to his left foot.
There are very few players in the world who can hit at a ball in addition to De Bruyne with either foot. It’s one of the reasons he is an outstanding participant.
Did you know? Kevin de Bruyne has been engaged in more home goals than any other player in the Premier League this season.
Alli: The transfer into the move from Dele Alli for Son Heung-min, the turn and the space to perform what he can best was outstanding.
What happened minutes later in the match at West Ham was something out of a box of magic tricks.
The ball is running out of drama, it’s caught by Alli while falling into the ground and, while to the floor, the Tottenham back pumps the ball right into Son’s path – that then provides the perfect cross for Lucas Moura to slot home.
He’ll need to perform more off the ball, if Alli will be a victory under Jose Mourinho. Chuntering under his breath when the manager substitutes him after 70 minutes will not endear him. Mourinho is interested in team players.
Did you know? As well as registering a help, Dele Alli produced more tackles than any of the team-mates as Spurs produced a winning start under Jose Mourinho against West Ham.
Cantwell: I’m not surprised he has done it and This lad was made my group of the week earlier. His performance away at Everton was outstanding.
This is much worse to Marco Silva and a bad outcome for Everton. Liverpool are taking the Premier League from storm – meanwhile, on the opposite side of Stanley Park, their acquaintances are hovering above the relegation zone.
Everton have many big names not generating big performances, Even though Cantwell is a participant. Silva can’t take all of the blame but it will be a challenging week. We are in the’sacking time’ period.
Did you know? Todd Cantwell scored his first-ever away goal in English league football, in what had been his 18th overall look.
Mane: Sadio Mane is quickly becoming my favorite to win the PFA Player of the Year award. His performances this season have been wonderful.
He was the greatest threat of Liverpool. He refuses to give the rest of a moment to any defence.
Having said that, the Senegal worldwide might have had a hat-trick in a game that could have ended 3-3. Rather, Liverpool tightened their grasp that elusive Premier League title – and a lot of that is down to Mane.
Did you know? Sadio Mane has scored more Premier League goals (eight) against Crystal Palace than any other competitor.
Vardy: Why is it me or has got Jamie Vardy’s match? Vardy is regarded as one of the best finishers very rightly and in the country – he has been for the last few seasons one of the league’s top goalscorers.
However, what I have discovered this season is that his unselfishness in front of goal.
I really don’t know whether this is due to the coaching of Brendan Rodgers or maybe not what I can tell you is Vardy looks a much more accomplished player. He was the difference between the two teams and made a fantastic functionality.
Did you know? Jamie Vardy has played netting seven goals in total in this run.
Son: It is good to see Son enjoying his football again. The South Korea global gave a blistering performance against a West Ham side that could not lay a glove on Tottenham to get 60 minutes.
Mourinho’s decision to play Son alongside Moura Harry Kane and Alli away in the London Stadium proved deadly. It’s still early days however Moura, Kane and Son can do below Mourinho what Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Mane have performed for Liverpool for Spurs.
Read about what I Must say about the coming at Spurs in Crooks of the Issue of Mourinho below.
Did you know? Son Heung-min is Tottenham’s leading goalscorer – netting than Harry Kane far.
You have seen my selections this year. However, who would you opt for?
He has poked a mentor in the eye, and contended and pushed the others on the touchline, but promises to not make the very exact mistakes later on. I’m not sure he.
What’s clear is that Jose Mourinho is about a charm offensive. How long he can hold it together is anybody’s guess.
The newest Tottenham manager was handed the very best arena in the world one of the best squads in the nation and one of the academies in the sport – and that’s all accompanied by state-of-the-art training facilities.
He should consider retiring from soccer permanently if Mourinho can not win trophies at this bar.
Let us face it – to win trophies. He could be impolite and truculent. What he can do is win silverware.
Regular readers may know that I have been among Mourinho’s main critics over the past two years however Spurs are a club to Manchester United and this relationship may work.
The moment that you get started hearing Spurs fans chanting the name of Mourinho, you are going to know it is.
