Glen Durrant keen to avoid Premier League Darts elimination
Glen Durrant says his principal focus is currently avoiding elimination from this season’s Premier League, despite transferring top of the desk in Cardiff.
After he left it two wins from three using an eye-catching 7-4 defeat of Gary Anderson in front of a crowd at Motorpoint Arena, durrant is the early leader in the standings.
Having salvaged a point against Fallon Sherrock on Night 2, Durrant was best as he landed endings of 85 and 107, 89 in his way into a 5-1 lead.
Two-time Premier League champion Anderson hit with checkouts of 64 and 122, but Durrant claimed control of this competition.
“I’m in a great place at the moment, I never believed I would be top of the Premier League at any given point of my profession,” three-time BDO world champion, Durrant admitted.
“To conquer one of those all time greats in Gary facing the wonderful audience is an incredible feeling.
“I can’t say I liked the Fallon game last week but tonight made up for it.
“I wish I had been and say’I’m going to finish in the top four’ but that is not the person I am.
“I still just want to avoid being removed so that will be my focus until I reach that aim.”
Up for Duzza is really a battle against third-placed Nathan Aspinall in Dublin with only a single point separating the set.
