By defeating the Grizzlies on Friday by 9 the Jazz followed a 19 point loss to the Pacers on Wednesday night.

They head to Toronto to face the NBA defending champions. The Jazz are currently struggling to incorporate new point guard Mike Conley. Conley hasn’t performed to his usual level yet, but as the established group fitting in with his new teammates’ point guard requires. Conley takes over main ball handling obligations from star Donovan Mitchell, which was expected to have the impact of having Mitchell be more effective off ball, similar to the improvement departing point guard Ricky Rubio managed to provide because of his scoring counterpart Devin Booker in Phoenix. It has yet to occur but it’s much too premature to count out a participant of Conley’s caliber, as he is a sharp cerebral player and once he figures out his teammates likes and trends, this is going to be a dangerous team, I expect the Jazz to keep on improving as the season progresses.
An offseason addition which has fit in quicker has been little forward Bojan Bogdanovic. Bogdanovic is currently averaging 22 points a game on 49. Together with sharpshooter Joe Ingles, the pair gives a glimpse of 3 point marksman.
Defensive player of the year Friday night’s win scoring 13 points and adding 13 and Rudy Gobert has experienced some injury issues to begin the year but appeared to be comfortable rebounds. Having Gobert at the lineup is a huge plus for the Jazz, as his rim protection allows the Jazz to funnel defenders to the centre where Gobert may roll up and prevent easy layups. The Jazz rely on sharpshooting and sharp shield to secret their winning heritage.
Many thought upon losing their team MVP Kawhi Leonard during the offseason the Raptors would discriminate, however, Pascal Siakam has taken over as the team move to celebrity and the Raptors have not seemed to miss a beat beginning 14-4. Accidents to Kyle Lowry and Serge Ibaka have examined their resolve but at a real”next person up” style the Raptors have plugged reserves into prominent roles and continued to be prosperous. Head coach Nick Nurse has this team playing nicely with a feeling of enthusiasm and purpose. What might have been a offseason for the Toronto franchise was nothing but another speed bump in the club’s road to continuing success. I, for one, am impressed with this Raptors franchise as they really are an inspiring story for teams.
Marc Gasol will attempt to bring center Rudy Gobert out and use his long range shot making ability to start up the paint for Toronto’s slashing attacks into the basket. Gasol will have to get a big game shooting the ball so as to keep Gobert from contesting every shot in the paint and planting himself at the middle. Subsequently, restrict his penchant for providing 2nd chance points for the Jazz and Gasol will need to maintain Gobert off the glass. The Raptors also rely on Gasol for defense that is strong, so foul trouble for both of these huge men could throw the rotations and offer a definitive advantage for either team. Keep an eye on capacity and Gasol’s shooting off the glass and to maintain Gobert; stay alert to the foul situation, as this match up between talented facilities could determine the outcome of the game.
Utah is still about a lengthy road trip in the middle of the vacations while Toronto enjoys a solid home court edge. Toronto concentrates on basketball and Utah won’t have the advantage in basketball principles they do against some of these sloppier. Tired, in the middle of a long road trip, heading up against a Raptors team that protects its home court with a fervent energy, is going to be a challenging job for even this Jazz team that is gifted. I expect that the Toronto Raptors to keep their series of impressive results at home and pay for the NBA chances of 2.5 points. My NBA pick is your Toronto Raptors -2.5.
