Joe Cordina outpoints Enrico Tinoco to land WBA Continental title
Joe Cordina outpointed Enrico Tinoco from Monaco to Property the WBA Continental super-featherweight title.
Two of the judges in Monaco scored the bout 98-92 with the third judge scoring it 96-94, and in favour of this Welshman, in Cordina’s favour.
British and Commonwealth lightweight champion Cordina fell down to super-feather to take earlier this season.
Cordina appeared the more comfortable of their fighters in the outset, using his superior hand speed to control his jab in the early rounds.
Tinoco got a measure of success at the middle rounds, landing a few shots without really hurting Cordina.
Tinco stepped it up towards the conclusion of this 10-rounder with a few fantastic eye-catching work on the interior but it was not enough to influence the judges, who also given Cordina the fight by unanimous decision.
The win extends Cordina record with seven of those wins coming by way of knockout.
