Jose Mourinho to Tottenham a ‘short-term fix’, says Charlie Nicholas

Charlie Nicholas says Jose Mourinho in Tottenham is a”temporary fix” and commended Mauricio Pochettino to the project he did in the club.
There were 12 hours between the appointment of Mourinho and Pochettino’s passing on Tuesday day early on Wednesday afternoon, carrying several people by surprise.
There has also been a mixed reaction to the arrival, and Soccer Saturday pundit Nicholas believes it is not a long-term solution for Tottenham.
He told Sky Sports:”I’m amazed, to be honest. Its history suggests that they had been talking to Jose Mourinho behind the scenes.
“Mourinho is a serial winner but he may not be any more – that the match is adapting. I am surprised on its timing and how fast it has happened.
“I don’t understand if Mourinho and Daniel Levy is a venture that will find the task finished. He likes to spend, and whether the players aren’t doing what’s asked of them the connection can come really strained. Toby Alderweireld jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen possess six months until they could strike a bargain to get out of Tottenham and he may get them in January some money but that he might want to adapt it for his personality.
“The sole reason I could see the drive for Mourinho is the winning mindset, which will get some kind of trophy over the line. Mourinho is a fix – .
“I’m confused about the situation and how fast and willful it has been using the sacking. This could eat in their budget too so it is a dramatic event – it’d take me by surprise”
Pochettino directed Spurs in four of their Champions League in the 2018/19 effort, in addition to his five seasons in charge, and it is this kind that garnered praise from Nicholas.
“A few weeks back, I explained on Soccer Saturday that it sounded to me as though Mauricio Pochettino was talking his way from Tottenham. The chairman took them for dinner, Pochettino n’t got cash, however this might happen to be to guarantee him that the team had been moving in the ideal direction. He explained he wanted to bring in new bodies although the relationship sounded as though it had been mended.
“Pochettino was not happy with the running down of contracts from Vertonghen, Alderweireld and Eriksen. Danny Rose is going to be ready to say something. Seeing the other ones, Poch said that he tried to get contracts however he doesn’t control this.
“Afterwards, I thought it settled down a bit and thought they would just get on with it before the time comes, possibly waiting for Manchester United or Real Madrid to knock on the door. That’s how I saw it.
“Even though he dropped out with Daniel Levy, is the why they’ve made the move for Mourinho? Or because he hasn’t won anything? No. Has he been a success? Absolutely.
“Arsenal were never actually overly worried about Tottenham, however on a few times, they weren’t far away winning the name , they realized that the Champions League final, which is far more threatening than another team in northern London. With the pedigree that he mind, Pochettino has performed excellent.”
