Luke Shaw hoping for England call-up at Euro 2020
Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw says he’s dreaming about an England call-up with the summer’s European Championships.
Shaw addition in an England squad came back with director Gareth Southgate preferring Leicester’s Ben Chilwell and also Danny Rose, who is in Tottenham.
The United protector is refusing to become distracted by the prospect of a tournament with England since he focuses on helping his staff achieve a top-four end as well as progressing in the Europa League and FA Cup.
“Clearly the remainder of the year is most importantly about Man United at the moment,” said Shaw, who’s eight England caps.
“We want to enter the top four and of course we’re still in contests, so there are still trophies to win.
“I would be lying if I (said I) hadn’t thought about it, but, you know, I’ve got to keep working hard, keep my head down and whatever happens happens.
“But, clearly, it is everyone’s dream to participate at the Euros.
“I’m only going to keep my head down, continue working. In the conclusion the day it is not down to me, it is of course down to Gareth and I’ll respect whatever he determines.”
Shaw has been utilized together with United promising two victories and a fascination with these games against Manchester City, Chelsea and Club Brugge, and to good effect, on the remaining a back-three in recent large games.
But in Sunday’s 3-0 win against Watford at Old Trafford, Shaw resumed normal service on the left of a conventional rear four.
“I’m pleased but the most crucial issue is the win and three points,” Shaw added.
“But I feel really good and the team felt really good now, particularly second half, so we must keep things moving.
“We’re working hard in practice and we are all playing, so we will need to just keep moving and keep closing the gap.
“I’m actually loving it at the present time, and I’m delighted to play everywhere the manager wants me to playwith.
“I’m actually enjoying that sort of left of the three, but I will play everywhere and the most important issue is to assist the staff and to enjoy soccer.”
