Newcastle call off Eider Chase card because of waterlogging
Saturday’s meeting at Newcastle has been called off because of a waterlogged track.
The fixture, which was expected to feature the Vertem Eider Handicap Chase, was subject to an inspection at 8am, but Chairman of the class James Armstrong was able to generate an call fell at the track.
The program has been reported to be waterlogged, together with patches of ground that was false.
Armstrong composed on Twitter:”Sadly racing was abandoned because of waterlogging and regions of fictitious ground after 7mm rain overnight.
“Chance of additional showers and winds set to gust upwards of 40mph – gutted to be shedding the @vertemam #EiderChaseDay.”
Monday’s assembly at Carlisle is with an inspection called on Sunday.
The program is heavy, waterlogged in places.
