Police investigate alleged assault on referee during non-league football match
Authorities are investigating after a referee was pumped at a non-league football game in Surbiton, that led to it being left handed.
Sky Sports News comprehends the incident happened during AFC Sutton Common Rovers on Saturday and a game between Sporting 50.
Paramedics in the place treated the match official and his injuries are non life-threatening. The episode has been condemned by both teams.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police told Sky Sports News:”Authorities are investigating reports that a guy in his 40s was assaulted while refereeing a football game at a sports ground at Surbiton.
“Officers were called to this place in Kingston Road, Tolworth, in 15.16hrs on Saturday, 23 November.
“London Ambulance Service handled the man at the scene. His injuries are life-threatening.
“The suspects had left the ground by the time of their officers’ arrival. There are no arrests now and historians persist.”
