Robbie Savage signs for Stockport Town in 10th tier
This could be the signing of the season.
Former Wales international-turned pundit Robbie Savage has been set to come back to playing signing at the tier of English soccer for side Stockport Town.
The past played Derby at the Championship, retiring after his match against Reading in May 2011, to pursue a career in the press.
Savage, who left professional looks, spent in Premier League side Leicester City, at which he won the League Cup and came through the ranks.
The tough-tackling midfielder won 39 caps for his country in his playing career and also played Blackburn, Birmingham and Crewe.
“Looking forward to it,” he realised afterwards signing for the North West Counties Football League (NWCFL) First Division South side.
Savage, who is also involved with the club owners Guru Football Academy, is predicted to be named to face Oswestry Town on Monday.
Manager Adam Jones said he is trying to”locate a combination of starving young lads and experience” and that there’s not any one”better placed” than Savage.
“When he said he would be interested in putting his boots it had been a no brainer for me,” Jones added.
As his tally of all 89 yellow cards is the seventh highest in Premier League history NWCFL referees might maintain a for a time with Savage’s return.
