Southampton bring in Matt Crocker as director of football operations
Southampton are set to declare Matt Crocker because of their new manager of soccer operations.
Crocker, who is now the head of development group training of the FA, is coming into the Saints after leaving his post as academy boss for its regulating body in 2013.
Crocker’s function is known to become an overarching individual; establishing a philosophy and pathway by the academy into the first-team, and overseeing the whole soccer section.
It’s thought to be similar to Les Reed’s previous project at St Mary’s, and also the one Reed currently performs as technical manager of this FA.
Reed left Southampton to replace. Crocker worked closely with Ashworth and is also now thought to have helped develop the newest England’DNA’ beneath Gareth Southgate.
Southampton stay on the hunt for a different appointment to focus on player recruitment, perhaps under the title of head of recruitment, previously held by his predecessor and Wilson Paul Mitchell.
Chief scout Martyn Glover is now fulfilling the role.
The head of recruitment and The two Crocker face a challenging task to reconstruct Saints after another fighting beginning to the year for director Ralph Hasenhuttl, into a powerful Premier League side.
They’re second-bottom using just two victories with their title, after 13 games, following narrowly avoiding relegation last year, having done business in the summer transfer window.
