Tammy Abraham: Chelsea striker plays down severity of injury
Tammy Abraham played down the severity of the hip injury that forced him to leave the pitch before half-time through Chelsea draw at Valencia.
The 22-year-old has been directed away on a stretcher after landing awkwardly on Valencia defender Ezequiel Garay.
He told Chelsea TV:”It is far better than as it happened.
“I had been fearful of the worst if it occurred but when got to the changing room, I could walk around. I will have a scan and hopefully it’s just bruising.”
The England has scored 12 goals for club and country this year.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard added:”It looked really acute at half-time, a strong bang on the hip, however, the word following the game is it might not be as intense as we thought. That is all I know.”
