Tennessee Titans’ Delanie Walker out for season with ankle injury
Later he had been put on injured reserve the Tennessee Titans will need to keep their playoff bid.
Tennessee had hoped Walker might return from a shoulder injury last week against Jacksonville but he had been ruled out and may now not be available again this year.
“We only probably didn’t feel that we were likely to have the ability to get him back to get a few meaningful snaps,” Titans head coach Mike Vrabel said.
“That’s disappointing to not just Delanie but to me and to this group. He worked really difficult to try to come back and just wasn’t able to.”
Walker’s accident has created an expanded role – Smith has caught 22 passes for 287 yards up to now.
The Titans have won their last two games, and four of the last five, to move into contention for a berth.
They confront the Indianapolis Colts on the Street on Sunday at a critical AFC South game.
Tennessee may also have a kicker on board later signing Ryan Santoso to contend with Ryan Succop, that has struggled since his return.
