The Hundred fixtures: Oval Invincibles host Welsh Fire in inaugural game
Oval Invincibles will Shoot Welsh Fire in the inaugural match of The Hundred July 2020.
The new format, to be shown live around the, begins as the Invincibles of Jason Roy face a Fire side boasting Mitchell Starc, Steve Smith along with Jonny Bairstow.
A day later Eoin Morgan’s London Spirit is welcomed by Birmingham Phoenix while Ben Stokes’ Northern Superchargers trip Manchester Originals.
Phoenix host the Originals at the opener on 22 July of the women.
The may have live tv coverage of the matches of 10 men and some matches from the women’s tournament, including both finals on 14 and 15 August.
The arrangement? 100 balls each team, most runs wins. The contest is going to be played at the school summer holidays to attract more families to the game and in trial matches held innings were carrying just over an hour to complete.
Eight new teams are formed, representing seven cities from across the UK, with each.
A mini-draft watched three English players are selected by the men’s teams before leading overseas players combined the draft on 20 October to meet the remaining places in the squads.
There’ll be 32 league matches in total, using the top three finishers competing in the Finals Day (top team automatically reaches the final, with second versus third for another place ).
Teams will play each other once, besides their paired’competitions’, whom they meet two (home and away): Northern Superchargers (Leeds) and Manchester Originals, London Spirit and Oval Invincibles, Birmingham Phoenix and Trent Rockets (Nottingham), Southern Brave (Southampton) and Welsh Fire (Cardiff).
England fast bowler Jofra Archer was chosen by Southern Brave, together with Australian batsman David Warner being one of the group’s selections in the best salary group of #125,000.
So as Brave are paired with Fire, Archer has at least two matches against his Ashes rival Smith – August in Cardiff on Sunday, 19 July, and Southampton on Friday.
Warner will renew his competition with England all-rounder Stokes as Northern Superchargers welcome Brave on to Headingley on Thursday, 30 July.
The London sides meet at the Oval July, together with the return at Lord’s on Thursday.
After assembly about the opening weekend, the Superchargers are faced by Jos Buttler’s Manchester Originals in Leeds on Wednesday, 5 August.
And Joe Root’s Trent Rockets, that picked Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan using the first draft pick, sponsor Moeen Ali’s Birmingham Phoenix on Sunday, 19 August, prior to travelling to Edgbaston on Saturday, 8.
