US President Donald Trump’s pronunciation of names of Indian cricket greats lights up social media
President Trump addressed thousands of people packed into the Motera stadium in Ahmedabad since he kicked off his first official visit to India Monday.
Before continuing on to the sport standing to a dais from the 110,000-capacity venue, Trump commended India’s Bollywood movie industry.
To the crowd’s pleasure, he singled out Sachin Tendulkar, the most prestigious cricket star and one of the world’s greatest batsmen of India, and captain Virat Kohli, who is also an icon in the nation.
“It is a country where your people cheer on a few of the world’s amazing crickets players ‘Soo-chin Tendulkerr’ into’Virot Ko-lee,'” the president, said to a huge roar.
However, the reaction on media was mixed regarding his pronunciations.
Even the governing body of world cricket and a tweet poking fun at the less-than-perfect grasp of the names of Trump combined,.
“Sach-, Such-, Satch-, Sutch-, Sooch-, anybody understand?” It submitted with a corresponding GIF.
It is not the first time with Nepal, Tanzania, Namibia and Bhutan providing tricky.
President Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi were speaking at the”Namaste Trump” event at the Beginning of his 36-hour visit to India.
