Wilder vs Fury 2: Lennox Lewis rates Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury above Anthony Joshua
Lennox Lewis has declared Deontay Wilder as the greatest heavyweight on the planet and speeds Tyson Fury more highly than winner Anthony Joshua.
Wilder will defend his WBC title in a rematch of the controversial draw from 2018 against Fury at vegas on Saturday.
IBF, WBA and WBO champion Joshua holds the rest of the major belts after beating Andy Ruiz Jr in December however, Lewis believes he is the third best fighter in the division.
“Right now the very best guy is Deontay because of how he looked in his last 2 fights,” Lewis told Sky Sports News.
“Both of these guys [Wilder and Fury] are number one and two. Arguably, number one and two – it could be switched either way.
“On Saturday they get the opportunity to show to the world who’s number one and who is number two.”
Fury’s US promoters Top Rank need to”strike while the iron is hot” and establish a mega-fight with Joshua this calendar year, according to the provider’s president Todd DuBoef.
Lewis is eager to see Joshua face the winner of Wilder and the rematch to find out the best in the branch of Fury.
“This is a battle which must occur,” added Lewis, who stays the last undisputed heavyweight champion.
“He’s the guy that has a lot of straps that these men want so there is definitely going to become match-up and we just have to wait and see when.”
