Yulimar Rojas sets new indoor triple jump world record in Madrid
Venezuela’s Yulimar Rojas claimed a new world indoor triple jump record in Madrid in the final World Indoor Tour event of the year.
Even the 24-year-old double world champion recorded 15.43m with her sixth and final attempt.
It eclipsed the past landmark of Russian Tatyana Lebedeva from 2004 by seven centimetres.
The outside record stands in 15.50m, set by Sweden’s Inessa Kravets at Gothenburg in 1995.
Rojas procured a South American record of 15.03m in Metz before this month in her first triple jump competition of the year.
Madrid is a place for her, with four of her indoor personal best performances along with the scene of the first outside leap in 2016.
